Why some places you may expect are not here. The Visitors Bureau promotes the whole Raystown Lake region, so its directory also carries businesses in Altoona, State College, Lewistown, Hollidaysburg and Saxton. This is a Huntingdon County site, so 41 listings outside the county line are not shown. Membership was decided by each listing's own published coordinates tested against the county boundary, not by its postal town, because postal towns cross county lines in both directions.

Two sources, and how to tell them apart. 233 rows come from the Visitors Bureau, which is a membership list: a business that is not a member is not in it, which is why most townships had nothing at all. The other 376 are mapped by OpenStreetMap's volunteers, who record what is on the ground whether it pays dues or not. Bureau rows link to the bureau listing and usually carry a description; mapped rows link to the map and carry whatever the mapper recorded. Where both describe the same place the bureau's row is the one kept.
