In 1989 and 1991, federal historians came to town to record the people who remembered the brickyards. They recorded Fred S. Beatty, Josh Booker, Marge Cassatt, Mike Dimoff, Sylvia Hoenstine, and Carl Peduzzi here in Mount Union in 1989. They returned in 1991 to speak with John Curry, Ivan Phillips, and Robert Wagner, among others. These were the people who saw the plants run, who handled the bricks, who lived in the company houses, who watched an entire era rise and fall. The photo shows the corner where one of them, Carl Peduzzi, kept the lunch counter. The government sent historians to listen, and these families answered.

Nothing further from the county histories. The six histories held here end in 1913 and this story belongs to 1991, so there is no passage in them that bears on it.
